Today the second part of the International Yoga Day was held. Kristen Eykel, an American Supermodel and Kundalini Yogini taught simple relaxation and meditation techniques to the students and faculty of Arena Chandigarh (best animation institute) during a meditation session.
She also answered questions from the audience about how to handle pressure, and how to stay relaxed. She also performed some simple exercises that helped the audience literally flex their spine and demonstrated various methods to do that routine.
Q&A Session: Yogic Meditation
Q: Looking at our sedentary lifestyle, is there any meditation technique that can help release the energy?
A: Yes, why not. There are lot of energies which stick with you throughout the day. At the end of day before sleep you can wash your face, feet and hand or otherwise simply Sit straight with your eyes closed and hands placed on knees. Let your brain imagine a white light going down into the earth starting right from your pituitary gland. Imagine it as a slow continuous process for few minutes. Your brain will release positive energy into your body for a sound sleep making you wake fresh in the morning.
Q: Looking at our sedentary lifestyle, sitting on computer chair for a long time do effect a pain now and then in our lower back. Is there any yogic mudra which can be done on daily basis and may help ease up lower back?
A: Yes sitting simply in a chair or a sofa or specifically in padma aasna on the floor, just spiral your spine like a snake back and forth moving right from your belly, exhaling when you are stretched forward and inhaling when you are leaned far back. You can also perform the extended version of it by acting your torso as pivot and rotating your top body first in cloclwise and then in anti-clockwise. Follow the same breathing instructions.
