Kawaguchi City – JAPAN
July 16 to 24, 2011

Hailed as one of Variety’s “50 Unmissable Fests” in the world, the 8th Annual SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL presents a first-class program of the best in digital cinema just outside of Tokyo, in Kawaguchi City, Japan. This nine-day, competitive international festival was established to encourage innovation in digital filmmaking by nurturing and cultivating the careers of filmmakers working in the medium.

SKIP CITY introduces new films and filmmakers to the Japanese market and to distributors through competition sections viewed by an international jury of industry professionals, largely producers. Filmmakers compete for generous cash prizes sponsored by SONY; last year, SKIP CITY offered cash awards totaling approximately $75,000 USD. Filmmakers receive some of the circuit’s most welcoming hospitality; each selected feature filmmaker receives economy airfare and lodging to attend SKIP CITY.

The Festival takes place in an all-digital facility that features an HD studio, an audio-visual hall, HD editing rooms, and more. SKIP CITY’s digital exhibition specialists ensure the best possible screening environment for audiences and filmmakers alike; all nominated films are presented using state-of-the-art digital exhibition via the latest 4K projector and 5.1 Ch digital surround sound.
