In November 2014, 3 students of Arena Sector 17 applied for the job of an Animator at 4 Top Studios of India. They had often heard stories of the studios rejecting everyone and not hiring freshers.
Unknown to them, a 4 way contest was on. 4 Top Studios of India, Xentrix, Bangalore, DQ, Hyderabad, Prime Focus, Mumbai, and MEL (Maya Entertainment) Studio, Mumbai were looking for the best grads to pass out of Indian Animation Institutes. And uncannily, their eyes got stuck at these 3 grads at the same time.
The 3 Grads were Mananveer Singh (Himachal), Krishna Kumar (Patna) and Arun Kumar (Himachal). And they had already done well with their 11 second films as well as their portfolios. They also had the confidence that 5 more of their senior had recently made it to MEL and MEL had only been hiring freshers just from their institute. But now they had stepped out and applied to the Top 4.
However, the centre’s dream doesn’t end here. The Centre is now focusing on getting Top International Studios on their must visit list. The dream is to be on the must visit list of every animation recruiter. And going by thew recent successes the day may not be far off.
