The M&E industry registered a growth of 11.8% over 2012 and touched INR 918 billion. It is a very promising sector that has been propelled even further by the expansion of the animation, TV & advertising sector.
According to the recent FICCI report done by KPMG, the animation industry is set to grow to INR 39.7 billion industries with a CAGR of 12.4%, TV by 16.2%, films by 11.9% and digital advertising by 27.7%. This growth can be attributed to digitalization, which has entered all the sectors of the media and entertainment industry. Our world is quickly progressing towards digitalization that enables products to be distributed in short periods of time to various geographies.
With the onset of new technology entering all verticals in the Media and entertainment industry, new job profiles and opportunities have also been developed that are manifold and very lucrative. The youth have a variety of ways in which they can work in this booming industry by becoming Digital Graphic Designers, Advertising Designers, Layout Designers, Film and Video Editors etc. After an arduous journey, digitalization has proven its worth as a vital cog in the machinery of media and entertainment and is predicted to have a steady growth for the next four years. This growth is attributed to the induction of a digital format into advertising, cinema, mobile apps, gaming, television etc.
The media and entertainment industry is being further propelled by favorable laws from the government in terms of finance, infrastructure, subsidies in production, industry tie-ups, policies and laws related to Intellectual property. With an increase in the internet user base the potential of access to entertainment is no longer a matter of concern. With the continued support of the government along with the involvement of the private sectors, the media and entertainment industry can be expected to grow into a vibrant and exciting industry with a tremendous impact on the Indian Economy.
