The Speaker for the workshop was a senior veteran from USA, Dr. Pierre Pepin, who is an international artist presently working as an Assistant Professor.
Ms. Neelu Kapoor, director of Arena Animation Academy, Sector 17, Chandigarh, felicitated Dr. Pierre Pepin for the special workshop by introducing the speaker and the topic of the workshop, “Animation and Story Telling” to the students.
In his two day workshop, dated 20th – 21st October, 2018, Dr Pierre Pepin emphasized on two keywords “Exaggeration” and “Unexpected” to make any animation successful. He also emphasized on stepping in the shoes of the character for all animators by acting on their own to understand the personality and attitude of the character with reference to different animation movie characters. He also introduced the participants with challenges in making the animation movie successful at large with some good acting for animation tips.
He shared lot of his own experiences about how and why one cannot rely on any one formula that would sustain innovation and growth for all the animation movies because then they will all look the same.
The workshop concluded with students presenting their respective group projects of small piece of acting they did for their own short scripts. At the end of the workshop, students gave their feedback, how they were benefited by the workshop.
