			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://www.alumniarena.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/asifa_animation_day.JPG" alt="International Animation Day ASIFA" />Arena Animation Academy sponsored the 7th IAD (International Animation Day) Function with ASIFA, Picasso and Frameboxx on 14 November, 2008 at the English Auditorium at Panjab University.</p>
<p>The event premiered select animation movies from around the world, and provided essential training sessions in &#8220;acting for animation&#8221; by Paresh Parekh, &#8220;sketching for animation&#8221; by Sushree Sunita Das, and &#8220;clay modeling&#8221; by Ganesha.</p>
<p>Students from all animation institutes took part in the workshop and contest held. Sunny, DAE student of Arena Animation Academy, Sector 17, won the first prize in Clay Modelling, Vivek Bhardwaj, AAASP student of Arena Animation Academy, Sector 17, won the first prize in Sketching competition.  <img src="http://www.alumniarena.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/winner_asifa_iad.JPG" alt="Winner Clay Modeling ASIFA International Animation Day" /></p>
<p>About 150 students and animation aficionados attended the workshop.</p>

Dr. Mahender Kumar, Chairman, Dept of Indian Theatre was the honorable chief guest at 11<sup>th</sup> Annual Function that was held in Bal Bhawan Sec 23, Chandigarh. The event began by the welcome speech by Mr Parminder, followed by “deepanjali” by Mr S.L Kapoor, Managing Director Arena Animation Academy.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Microsoft Sans Serif'">The older students of the institute, which are currently working in leading companies, were invited to grace the event. At the genial event arenaites had given stupefying performances. Each and every item was up to the mark The leading attractions of the evening were “Tau Hat Ja”, solo dance by Dheeraj, “Dil kya kare”, solo song by Vivek, “Kahin Aag Lage”, by Deepa, “Tinka-Tinka”, solo song by Rachita, The boys blast the stage with the traditional bhangra item presented by Gurvinder and party, there was a stupefying performance by Arenaites in the Ramp show. Beside this there was a group dance by Anjali and Dhiraj, Group bhangra by Parminder Singh and students, “Rangela Ramu”, skit by Mr Jagdeep singh and students, “Aaja Nache Le”, solo dance by Parul, “Jine Mera Dil Lutiya”, solo dance by Pankaj. There was a rocking performance by Sunaiyna on the traditional all time hit, Maye-ni-Maye.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Microsoft Sans Serif'">Arun was titled as Mr Arena and Megha as Miss Arena based on the Ramp show presented by Areniates, followed by the questioning round by the chief guest. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Microsoft Sans Serif'">After the grand, mind-boggling performances by Arenaites, there was the prize distribution ceremony, in which all the students who had shown their best in academics were honored. They include Atul Sethi (who was awarded Best in BSC ), Mridul (awarded as Best in AAASP), Vijay (Best in DAE), All rounder award was given to Gurwinder Singh. Beside this, Mrs Anjali S. Aggarwal, working as lecturer in Arts College, sector 10 was<span>  </span>honoured with female designer recognition award, she is also the current recipient of Lalit Kala Akademi&#8217;s award for her art photography.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Microsoft Sans Serif'">All the participants of creative mind (An Inter Arena Center competition), which was held in Delhi, were given the participation certificates. Mr. Vineet Raj Kapoor, Center Academic Head of Arena Animation Academy Chandigarh spoke about the emerging opportunities to the various students with the upcoming Film cum Multimedia City. He advised the students to work hard to make their mark in the industry. He said, “I would advise you to stay positive if you want to win. Remember, <strong>Dissatisfaction and discouragement is not caused by absence of things, but by the absence of vision</strong>. Coal and diamond are made of same stuff, only the diamond took on more pressure and came out shining!”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Microsoft Sans Serif'">After the encouraging report by the Director, Chief guest Dr. Mahender Kumar, Director Indian Theatre and recent winner of the highest award in Theatre given by Sangeet Natak Academi New Delhi given on 26 February 2008. Chairman, Dept of Indian Theatre, spoke a few words of encouragement for the students. Dr. Mahender said, “Today Arena and VirtualSoft are 2 very important landmarks and pioneers in Chandigarh. And their attempt to capture a piece of action in the animation Arena would go a long way in establishing this field in the city”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Microsoft Sans Serif'"><span></span>The function ended up with the vote of thanks presented.</span></p>

The need was their target driven project of more than 1,00,000 ringtones/ songs for their new Song-on-Demand Service.</p>
<p>After an exciting ride up the hills  with the Academics Head, Vineet Raj Kapoor, the students landed at SPICE VAS Office near 11 AM. immediately the interviews were held by Vineet Singh and his team (quite a few of them were the Senior Passouts from the same centre, and that did help). Except for technical issues with a foreigner candidate Henry regarding the work permit requirements, immediate offer letters were doled out to the complete students team.</p>
<p>After that the entire team was invited to sample the sumptuous meal served hot in the Spice cafeteria, and boy were we hungry? We dug into the food as fast as we could as all of the students discussed the cool environment of the office amongst the hills. This was surely a company to work for&#8230;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Shreya creations held Auditions for TV serial actors and actresses at Arena Animation Acadeny Chandigarh on 2 November, 2007.</p>
<p>Shreya creations is the creator of popular TV series like &#8220;Ek ladki anjani si&#8221; &#8220;Piya ka ghar&#8221;, &#8220;Har ghar kuchh kehta hai&#8221;, &#8220;Mamta&#8221; and &#8220;Kaajjal&#8221; and are soon starting with 3 more new shows. So all aspiring actors across chandigarh and Punjab turned up to try their luck with arclights. The casting director cum auditioner of Shreya Creations, Neeraj Mishra took the tests.</p>
<p>Neelu Kapoor,  Centre Head said,&#8221;we&#8217;ve always believed in an animator being an actor first. This step is in the same direction. It helped our students get an insight into the film world while exposing them to the thinking behind the camera which is essential for them to grasp the concept for making a great animation movie.&#8221;</p>
<p>Vineet Raj Kapoor, Academic Head says,&#8221;This is in continuation of our earlier efforts wherein we&#8217;ve brought in Misha Gautam, award winner in animation and special effects several times to interact with our students. Misha has worked for a long time in film industry before moving to areas like animation/ SFX and TV Serials. We&#8217;ve also brought in Mr. Desh Gautam who was the Technical Director of Gaj Gamini, the much acclaimed movie of painter MF Hussain starring Madhuri Dixit.&#8221;</p>
<p>Arena Animation Academy, Chandigarh had launched DAE (Diploma in Animation Engineering) in 2005 - this course goes into animation as a complete film making experience delving into acting, story writing, story boarding, character design, Disney animation principles, human anatomy, sketching, background design and other important things before getting into software. The admission is through an aptitude test. Occupying a makeshift office at Arena Animation Academy, they are overseeing their work take shape at the studio. They are Hyeonsu Kim, CEO, Durufix Animation Production, Seoul, and Chung, Animation Director, With 2D animation Productions, Seoul. They are modelling a huge Buddhist temple at Sunjungwon, Korea and sought out the expertize of Arena Animation Academy&#8217;s students to help them out. Next they seek to finish a huge 3D of a large resort consisting of a Fun Park, Sushi Market,.</p>
<p>Kim has done his Masters Degree from the Animation school at Hongik University after graduating in acting from Kangwon University, Seoul, Korea. He is the Producer of the highly successful animation series “Tori” of Korea.  He is collaborating with VirtualSoft Technologies to redub and market this series in India.</p>
<p>Chung is a graduate with 2 Degrees from CalArts (California, US) in Illustration as well as 2D animation. He takes weekly lectures in University at Seoul on Animation and loved to share his experiences with <font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><font size="2">Arena Animation Academy</font></font> students. He is an Animation Director specializing in 2D, gave an intense lecture on the nuances of 2D animation and how is changing in the world today. He also tells us why new Characters like Sin Chan and other continue to capture the minds of kids.</p>
<p>Chung explained to the students how they need to develop their skills and the hard work that goes into becoming a 2D animator. He was very happy to note that unlike in Korea, the students at Arena are able to work on Industry projects right here at their institute. Neelu, AAA Centre Head said,”Durufix inputs to our students have added a lot of value to our students outlook on how the international industry works.”</font></font></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Misha Gautam, producer of the TV serial &#8220;Kaajal&#8221; is in town for the shooting of Kaajal at Dilli Darbar, Dhaba near Banur. The shooting went on for about 10 days. During this he guided the students of Arena Animation Academy, Chandigarh, in various aspects of film making. The Arena students were also picked to assist in the various aspects of film making.</p>
<p>Misha Gautam started out as an Assistant Producer with Ashok Ghai long back in 1990s.  Starting out with &#8220;Jaan&#8221; starring Ajay Devgan, he slowly gravitated to the Devgan camp as a Production Manager, and was assisting them in various projects including &#8220;Hindustan Ki Kasam&#8221; and &#8220;Raju Chacha&#8221;.  Both the films were acclaimed for their Special Effects and Misha was given the newly constituted awards in special effects for both the films including Zee Cine Award and IFFI award. Later after taking over the TV division of Devgans he became the leading producer on SET India and is still handling the same portfolio.</p>
