Arena animation academy Chandigarh Annual Function students dance drama acting songs singing musicToday on 16th March 2008, Arena Animation Academy has celebrated its 11th Annual function. Dr. Mahender Kumar, Chairman, Dept of Indian Theatre was the honorable chief guest at 11th Annual Function that was held in Bal Bhawan Sec 23, Chandigarh. The event began by the welcome speech by Mr Parminder, followed by “deepanjali” by Mr S.L Kapoor, Managing Director Arena Animation Academy.

The older students of the institute, which are currently working in leading companies, were invited to grace the event. At the genial event arenaites had given stupefying performances. Each and every item was up to the mark The leading attractions of the evening were “Tau Hat Ja”, solo dance by Dheeraj, “Dil kya kare”, solo song by Vivek, “Kahin Aag Lage”, by Deepa, “Tinka-Tinka”, solo song by Rachita, The boys blast the stage with the traditional bhangra item presented by Gurvinder and party, there was a stupefying performance by Arenaites in the Ramp show. Beside this there was a group dance by Anjali and Dhiraj, Group bhangra by Parminder Singh and students, “Rangela Ramu”, skit by Mr Jagdeep singh and students, “Aaja Nache Le”, solo dance by Parul, “Jine Mera Dil Lutiya”, solo dance by Pankaj. There was a rocking performance by Sunaiyna on the traditional all time hit, Maye-ni-Maye.

Arun was titled as Mr Arena and Megha as Miss Arena based on the Ramp show presented by Areniates, followed by the questioning round by the chief guest.

After the grand, mind-boggling performances by Arenaites, there was the prize distribution ceremony, in which all the students who had shown their best in academics were honored. They include Atul Sethi (who was awarded Best in BSC ), Mridul (awarded as Best in AAASP), Vijay (Best in DAE), All rounder award was given to Gurwinder Singh. Beside this, Mrs Anjali S. Aggarwal, working as lecturer in Arts College, sector 10 was honoured with female designer recognition award, she is also the current recipient of Lalit Kala Akademi’s award for her art photography.

All the participants of creative mind (An Inter Arena Center competition), which was held in Delhi, were given the participation certificates. Mr. Vineet Raj Kapoor, Center Academic Head of Arena Animation Academy Chandigarh spoke about the emerging opportunities to the various students with the upcoming Film cum Multimedia City. He advised the students to work hard to make their mark in the industry. He said, “I would advise you to stay positive if you want to win. Remember, Dissatisfaction and discouragement is not caused by absence of things, but by the absence of vision. Coal and diamond are made of same stuff, only the diamond took on more pressure and came out shining!”

After the encouraging report by the Director, Chief guest Dr. Mahender Kumar, Director Indian Theatre and recent winner of the highest award in Theatre given by Sangeet Natak Academi New Delhi given on 26 February 2008. Chairman, Dept of Indian Theatre, spoke a few words of encouragement for the students. Dr. Mahender said, “Today Arena and VirtualSoft are 2 very important landmarks and pioneers in Chandigarh. And their attempt to capture a piece of action in the animation Arena would go a long way in establishing this field in the city”

The function ended up with the vote of thanks presented.

Arena Chandigarh Placement Drive SPICE VAS excellent offer lettersA special placement drive was held at SPICE VAS (Value Added Services) Campus at Parwanoo. The need was their target driven project of more than 1,00,000 ringtones/ songs for their new Song-on-Demand Service.

After an exciting ride up the hills with the Academics Head, Vineet Raj Kapoor, the students landed at SPICE VAS Office near 11 AM. immediately the interviews were held by Vineet Singh and his team (quite a few of them were the Senior Passouts from the same centre, and that did help). Except for technical issues with a foreigner candidate Henry regarding the work permit requirements, immediate offer letters were doled out to the complete students team.

After that the entire team was invited to sample the sumptuous meal served hot in the Spice cafeteria, and boy were we hungry? We dug into the food as fast as we could as all of the students discussed the cool environment of the office amongst the hills. This was surely a company to work for…
